Hi, I have a Komatsu 180 pc excavator, which literally stopped dead in tracks, Oil level is ok, water ok running at correct temp, Hydraulic oil was very low due to a serious leak which I hadnt noticed while working. Can anyone tell me if this could cause the engine to lock up, perhaps meaning that the oil pump could sieze in turn blocking the engine from turning, I dont have a great deal of experience with these machines and would be very greatful for any advise.
Many thanks. Sad

If the hydraulic oil is low then this would stop the main hyrdaulic motor from providng power to the final drives, thus the "dead stop".

This should not affect the engine in any way.
Also, if the oil was getting so low, then the low oil pressure alarm should have sounded.
